Learning Opportunities:
After training, the intern will meet with clients daily, fielding a variety of concerns. Through supervision, intern will learn interview and assessment skills, conduct occasional home visits, gain an understanding of community resources, provide referral information, and take steps toward maturity as professional helpers. The intern will advocate for clients and provide emotional support, budgeting assistance, and other wrap-around services. Interns will learn and perform reporting for department performance evaluation and grant requirements. The intern will assist Puente’s case managers in providing information, referrals, and advocacy to navigate community services. The intern will also work with case managers and clients to resolve current problems and plan for the household’s long-term stability.

The intern will gain experience in the overall workings of a Christian, community-based social service ministry and gain valuable knowledge working with a culturally and ethnically diverse population of youth and staff.
