Outreach Warrenville is a community-based program of Outreach. The purpose of Outreach Warrenville is to provide assistance to the residents of Warrenville and the surrounding communities in effectively dealing with a wide variety of personal, family and social concerns. Toward this purpose, the professional staff at Outreach Warrenville provide individual, marital, family and group therapy, as well as consultation and referral services. Outreach Warrenville also provides a variety of prevention and community education services.

Outreach Community Counseling Center in Warrenville
The Outreach Community Counseling Center in Warrenville provides individual, couples, and family therapy to residents of the Warrenville area. These services are offered on a fee for service basis (Medicaid, private insurance or sliding fee scale basis; no one is refused services due to inability to pay a fee. Within our framework for therapy, we work with a wide range of issues, including family conflict, violence, substance abuse, anxiety, and depression. The service population is diverse in ethnicity, language, and socio-economic status. Services are offered in English and Spanish. Working with at-risk youth is a primary focus.

Responsibilities/Opportunities:
The intern will carry a caseload of 10 to 12 cases per week, including documentation and case notes plus collateral case contacts (school, court, police, DCFS) as needed. The intern will attend weekly supervision, staffings, and all intern training as scheduled. The intern may have the opportunity to co-lead therapy groups and/or work with youth in school or after-school program settings. If interested, the intern may also participate in the crisis services offered through Outreach Wheaton’s contract for serving runaway and locked out youth.

Requirements:
Clinical internship candidates must have completed the first year of a master’s program in mental health counseling, marriage and family therapy or social work. Applicants must be supportive of the agency’s statement of Mission and Faith.

Schedule/Hours:
For the coming year, we anticipate that the internship will run from mid-June through mid-May. A commitment of 16 – 24 hours per week is required depending on the number of hours needed to meet graduation requirements. The schedule will involve working into the evenings and must accommodate team clinical staffings which are held weekly on Thursdays from 12:30 to 2:30 PM.

Supervision and Training:
Internship training at Outreach Warrenville is based on a team model. The intern participates with Outreach Warrenville staff in weekly clinical staffings. Individual supervision occurs on a weekly basis. In addition to staffings and supervision, the agency provides initial and ongoing clinical training for interns from all three counseling sites. This includes training on clinical models, the process of therapy, various clinical populations, and the use of self in therapy.
