Outreach Warrenville is a multi-purpose community service agency serving residents of the greater Warrenville area. Services provided include individual and family therapy, consultation and referral services, case management, community education services, mentoring, and youth development programs.
Program:
Case Management
Case Management services at Outreach Warrenville works to stabilize individuals with pressing financial needs through financial and referral assistance. Case managers oversee the distribution of the Local Emergency Assistance Fund as well as additional funds from The Salvation Army and the Illinois Department of Human Services.
Learning Opportunities:
After training, and based on the skill level of the intern, he/she will work directly with clients each week, fielding a variety of concerns. Through supervision, the intern will learn interviewing and assessment skills, gain understanding of community resources, provide referral information and develop as a professional helper. The intern will be well supported by staff and will be expected to make positive contributions to the department’s workflow. The intern will assist with SEL lessons in our youth program and support clients with budgeting skills. Other responsibilities include advocating for clients, assisting with data entry, communicating to the community, and scheduling appointments as well as other activities as needed.
The intern will receive experience in the over-all working of a Christian, community-based social service ministry. The intern will gain valuable knowledge of the issues confronting immigrant families, the working poor, those who are attempting to move from welfare to work, and the social institutions (government, religious, business), which most impact these populations.
Requirements:
Bachelor’s or master’s student in Sociology, Social Work, Psychology, Counseling, or a related field. Outreach seeks interns who demonstrate sensitivity to the needs of low-income and diverse populations who also support Outreach’s Statement of Mission & Faith.
Schedule/Hours:
January 2027 – May 2027 (summer and full academic year internships available)
Monday – Friday between the hours of 8:30 am – 5:30 pm, minimum of 15 hours/week.
Hours can be negotiated based on internship requirements and interns’ availability. Internship can be for one semester or the entire academic year.

Weekly individual supervision will provided.
