Dr. Amy Halder shines bright in the competitive world of medicine despite the challenges. Being a first-generation graduate with English as her second language, she never gave up and pressed on to the finish line.
Dr. Halder was born and raised in Bangladesh and moved to Chicago with her family when she was 11. Her dream was to become a doctor and serve her community in Bangladesh. However, she had doubts about her skills. Stepping into Outreach’s Carol Stream Center was the changing point of her life. Through consistent hard work, the support of Gigi Nyesoah, and the Outreach staff, she was able to graduate medical school.
Amy Halder, M.D., now serves as a resident physician in the Family Medicine Residency Program–Kalamazoo at Western Michigan University Homer Stryker M.D. School of Medicine. Outreach’s afterschool programs and mentoring, including God moments, have played a transforming role in her life. Amy is forever grateful to Outreach.
