Jubilee Furniture is a part of the Social Enterprises branch of Outreach which seeks to support the community through entrepreneurial and business minded programs. This includes 2 furniture resale stores, one resale store, and a car ministry. The Social Enterprise’s mission is to support the community by providing affordable furniture and other services while supporting other programs at Outreach.

Our operations include the careful acceptance and processing of donations, maintaining an organized inventory, and ensuring a positive shopping experience for our customers. We emphasize the recruitment and retention of committed volunteers, manage store operations, and organize events that engage the community. By fostering a mission-oriented and supportive culture, we enable our team and volunteers to contribute effectively to the community’s well-being.
Learning Opportunities:
This internship provides a unique opportunity to gain valuable experience in the day-to-day operations of a non-profit furniture resale store. You will work alongside experienced professionals and contribute to projects that directly impact our mission.
Learning opportunities can include:
- Marketing:
- Assist in developing and implementing marketing strategies to increase store visibility and sales.
- Enhance social media accounts and create engaging content to promote store events and sales.
- Conduct market research to identify trends and opportunities for growth.
- Operational Strategy:
- Support the development and execution of operational plans to improve store efficiency.
- Assist with inventory management, including tracking and organizing donations.
- Analyze sales data to identify patterns and recommend improvements.
- Participate in strategic planning meetings and contribute ideas for store enhancements.
- Volunteer Engagement:
- Assist in creating volunteer recruitment strategies.
- Develop and implement volunteer appreciation programs.
- Support volunteer-led events and activities within the store.
- Staff Training and Development
- Assist the Administrative Coordinator in creating and refining training manuals and procedural documents.
- Enhance how Outreach outlines training objectives through written materials, as well as developing training tools like PowerPoints, quizzes, and more.
The intern will receive exposure to the overall working of a Christian, community-based social service ministry and gain valuable knowledge about various marketing functions and basic management principles.
Requirements:
Bachelor’s or master’s level student in Marketing, Business Administration, Nonprofit Management, or related field. Strong organizational skills are required with basic proficiency in MS Office. Some experience in retail, marketing, or volunteer management preferred. Outreach seeks interns that demonstrate sensitivity to the needs of low-income and diverse populations who also support Outreach’s Statement of Mission & Faith.
Schedule/Hours:
Minimum of 10 hours/week, Monday – Friday, between the hours of 9:00 am – 4:00 pm
Supervision:
Individual supervision is provided weekly or bi-weekly.
